Mumbai Urja Marg is the transmission project executed by Vapi II North Lakhimpur Transmission Ltd (VNLTL) an SPV acquired by Sterlite Power in June 2020 from PFC Consulting Ltd. Mumbai Urja Marg involves providing inter-state transmission system (ISTS) feed to Navi Mumbai. The project consists of three elements as given below:
S.No | Elements of Package | Length of the line | Regions covered | Planned Date of Commission | Impact |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Padgha-Kharghar 400 Kv D/C (quad) | 70 KMS | Panvel (Raigad), Ambernath, Kalyan, Thane and Bhiwandi tehsils from Thane district | December 2023 | Potentially carry ~2000 MW of reliable power to Mumbai Metropolitan Region thereby reducing over dependency on the existing Padghe- Kalwa Line which currently is the only corridor bringing power inside the region. |
2 | Line in Line Out (LILO) of Padgha- Navi Mumbai (Ghatkopar) 400 Kv S/C line | 19 KMS | Panvel (Raigad) and Ambernath (Thane) | December 2023 | Energize PowerGrid’s 400/220KV substation which has been lying idle since 2012 and will significantly relieve the overloaded Kharghar and Kalwa Substations ensuring reliable power flow for the entire Navi Mumbai region. |
3 | Line in Line Out (LILO) of Apta -Kalwa- Taloja 220 Kv D/C | 1.2 KMS | Panvel (Raigad) | December 2022 | Ensure downstream connectivity and will decongest the overloaded Apta-Kalwa-Taloja network, immensely benefitting the industrial and residential units in the region. |
